The hardest part about playing basketball almost always has to do with having somewhere to play. Getting a group of friends, colleagues, or officemates together is the easy part. Finding a place to play however isn’t.

In Manila, you can try YMCA by SM Manila at 800 per hour or The Manila Bulletin gym in Intramuros at around 1345 per hour. Both are covered wooden courts.

Back in college, me and my friends used to play in Ateneo Covered Courts. We used to just pay an “entrance fee” per player. So, does it mean that these days, you have to call Ateneo first and reserve a court in their covered courts? Just wondering. Thanks.

We are organizing an adult basketball group (adult meaning “over-21 office boys”) that will meet and play hoops once-a-week, most probably on Sundays at 10:00am-12:00nn. Schedule is not final yet since the group is still being organized. But those of us who have so far committed to the group(me, my bro, his friend, a couple of my friends) were thinking weekend morning (meaning Saturday or Sunday morning). Plan is to rent a covered court and all the players share the rent. Aside from a cheaper alternative to stay healthy by playing competitive yet friendly basketball games, this group can also be a source social and business networks if the group grows and becomes solid. Example, if one of the players has an electronics supply business, the group can be a source of referrals and regular customers. In this case, it’ll benefit both the player/businessman and the group members.

Among the gyms listed here. I consider Dumlao as the worst gym that I ever played on when I was still based in the Philippines. If you guys usually play a weekly game of basketball. I could recommend RFM Gym. As long as you protect your weekly schedule by playing regularly. You won’t have to reschedule again.

Hello everyone,
First of all, I am in Manila for 6 months (from Canada) and would like to play basketball once in a while. I’m decent, but not great. I can play competitively, but I also don’t mind recreational ball. I’m an office worker and reside near Camp Crame.
I’m used to going to a gym and dropping in to play pick-up with whoever shows up for a couple of hours. It seems to me the system here is more about renting a gym and collecting a group of friends to take up a time slot. Are there any options for me to just “drop in” at a gym in the area? I don’t mind traveling a little bit if I have to either. Alternatively, if you guys need one for a group you already have that’d be cool too. Actually, any information on where I can just go to shoot around would be nice too. So far I’ve heard the University campus or Camp Crame itself. Thanks for the help all.

I have my own basketball group that plays 3x a week. We are working people who play basketball for passion and stress buster after a long day work. Court fee is cheaper compared to those posted here. Not a wood flooring, cement floor only but a standard gym with fiberglass board.
Place: Quezon City
Schedule: Every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday
Time: 9pm-to-sawa
Share per player: Minimum P70 each to P80
*No locker.. But have drinking fountain
*at least players with good attitude. Hindi yun naglalaro para makipag away.Pwede kayo as team. Or even as invididual players pwede. Much better if you’re a team from a Chrisitian church.

By the way the Rockwell courts are uncovered and cement. They are located right infront of Starbucks at the “rear” entrance to Rockwell Powerplant mall. If you walk across the car park you can look down and see the court.

Please delete METRO from your list. It was closed down last Sept 1, 2011. A condo will be constructed on that lot instead. Kaya pala si Coach Jong/ Plyo coach tranferred to RFM.

Rate: P60-toP70 each player
You can play as a team: Yes. Just limit it to 5-7 players since kayo kayo
din magpapalitan
You can play as individual: Yes. You can play on your own or kahit 2-4
players lng kayo. Since we can play shuffle
naman.
*We don’t entertain arrogant and showoff players. The club doesn’t also entertain so called “pustahan”. Since we play for wellness, fun and camaraderie yet the competitive spirit is still there rin naman.

by the way, for your info lang po nagtaas ng rate ang RFM gym… 1300/hr na ang rate nila sa wooden pag peak hours(5pm onwards) at 1200/hour pag umaga(morning to 5pm). thanks!

Sa Club 650 sa may Eastwood, the rate is P 1300/hr. But only members can make a reservation. For non-members, walk in lang at P 125/head.
