Indoor Wall Climbing

Submitted by admin on Monday, 23 June 20082 Comments

Indoor wall climbing is a sport that is fast gaining popularity. Being able to climb walls successfully requires both upper and lower body strength, hand strength, flexibility, endurance, balance, and a whole lot of practice. Add all these together and regular climbers can look forward to a lot of cardiovascular activity as well as a finely toned body.

In this post, we take a look at available wall climbing spots around the city.

I. Power Up Gym

For those interested in trying out wall climbing, check out Power Up Gym (Tandang Sora, Pasig-Tiendesitas, and Alabang). Here’s a quote from their website:

Power Up Center for Climbing and Fitness pioneered the sport of indoor rock climbing when it opened the first commercial gym in Quezon City in October 1994. Spearheaded by two active outdoor rock climbers from the UP Mountaineers, the gym opened its doors to the public, hoping to find individuals who share the same spirit of fun, adventure and fitness. True enough, there existed people like these and the sport rapidly grew. Power Up then set out to achieve its goals of (1) promoting the sport of SAFE rock climbing, (2) providing an alternative form of recreation, (3) creating a highly skilled group of climbers worthy of representing the Philippines in international events.

Their general rates:

Walk In:
Regular: Php 110
High School and Below: Php 85
Bouldering/Traverse: Php 85

Gear Rental:
Shoes: Php 35
Harness: Php 25

*In the Tandang Sora branch, they usually have promo discounts for males or females on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Check out their website.
